Fair Entries and Demonstration Volunteers
The Ventura County Fair is fast approaching. The fair dates this year are July 30th through August 10th. If you are a Ventura County resident, you can submit your projects in a variety of categories. Fair entry books will soon be out with the entry deadlines listed. You can provide inspiration for all of us who love meandering through the Home Arts Building admiring what others create. Make Anacapa Fine Yarns proud. Show your stuff!!
Anacapa Fine Yarns will once again provide knitting demonstrations in the Home Arts Building at the fair. We have lots of fun talking to people about knitting and crochet and letting them know about the shop. We will be looking for volunteers to help us with our demonstration. Dates of the demos are yet to be determined, but it will include weekends of the fair plus some dates during the week. If interested, call the shop for more details.
Think Outside The Sox Contest
Feeling creative? Feeling lucky? How about entering the "Think Outside the Sox" contest. XRX, publisher of Knitters Magazine, is doing it again! In 1996 they held a sock contest. It was an amazing success, hundreds of knitters from four countries entered some of the most imaginative sock designs the world had ever seen. Now they have a new sock contest, with 26 categories and over $20,000 in prize money. You could be featured in Knitters Magazine as well as an upcoming sock book from XRX. This is not for knitters only, crochet designs are also welcome. Several yarn companies are involved this time too and are also offering prizes if the winning entry is in their yarn. Anacapa Fine Yarns has stocked sock yarns from South West Trading Company, Colinette, Skacel, and Regia specifically for the contest. We have all the details and entry forms at the shop or go to http://thinkoutsidethesox.com .
