Class Schedule and Descriptions

9:30-10:00 am classes:

Applications for Crochet Cast-ons with Anne-Room 1

A provisional cast on is a nifty trick that allows you to do new things with your starting edge.  Sometimes you need to open that edge up and have "live" stitches, or you just want to have a prettier edge than other cast-ons will give you.
Kitchener Stitch with Kaity - Room 2
Come and learn one of the most feared finishing techniques in the knitting world! Its really not as scary as it seems, I promise! We'll learn how to seamlessly join live stitches together for professional results.
Crochet Foundation Chain with Elisa - Room 3
Foundation stitches allow you to work the beginning chain plus the first row of stitches at the same time. Sound complicated? It's not! Foundation stitches also provide a starting row with more stretch - great for socks, hats, necklines and more.

10:10-10:40 am classes:
I-Cord Edged Bracelet with Anne - Room 1

Ever wonder about how you could jazz up a garter stitch edge? We will be making a small treasure to demonstrate how you easily can make an i-cord edge as you knit away.
Mattress Stitch with Kaity - Room 2  The mattress stitch is a necessary finishing technique to learn if you want a "seamless" looking seam. We'll go step-by-step and end with a smooth join and professional looking results!
Crocheted Flower with Elisa - Room 3  Add a bit of beauty to almost any project using leftover bits of yarn and your favorite hook. This is a fast, fun project that you'll use over and over again.

10:50-11:20am classes:
Measure your Favorite Sweater with Anne - Room 1

Bring your very favorite top, pullover, or cardigan and we will collect the pertinent measurements that will ensure that you always pick the right size to make new garments.
Duplicate Stitch with Kaity -Room 2

Duplicate stitch is a fun way to add a little something to a finished project. You can stitch any design onto knitted fabric, and in this class we'll practice with a little heart!
Sewing Motifs Together with Elisa - Room 3   Learn my favorite method of joining crocheted motifs, granny squares, hexagons, and more. No more unfinished piles of squares for you! And as a bonus - this fast, easy method also provides a decorative edge to the front of your project.

11:30-12:00pm classes:
Buttonhole Options with Anne - Room 1

Buttonholes are an easy thing to execute. It is nice to know a few basics that will make it easy for you to apply them to garments. We will be reviewing my 3 favorites - 2 simple 'yo' buttonholes and the '1-row' buttonhole.
Adding Beads with Karin - Room 2

Adding beads to your work adds that little bit of sparkle that can take your finished project to the next level! In this fun class, we will learn a couple of different methods of adding beads to our work.

Adjustable Magic Ring with Elisa - Room 3

Hate the hole you often get when starting to crochet in the round? This 'magic' alternative eliminates that problem and gives you a tidy beginning for hats, mittens, afghans, flowers, and more.

1:00-1:30 pm classes:
Joining Yarns- Spit Splice and Russian Join with Terry - Room 1

Why weave in ends when you can avoid it? Learn the Russian join and everyone's favorite- spit splicing (no spitting required)!
3 Needle Bind-off and Horizontal Seams with Karin - Room 2

In this short class we will learn two ways to join a seam: the 3-needle Bind-Off, and how to join two bound off edges together.  Most commonly used to sew shoulders, you'll find advantages to both methods.
Decrease Options with Lois - Room 3

So many decreases so little time! Open a knitting reference book and you'll see many different decrease options. In this class we will learn which decreases are best to do when.

1:40-2:10 pm classes:
Easy Circular Cast-on with Terry - Room 1

Here's an easy, neat circular cast-on for top down hats, center-out shawls, or blankets. Starting circular knitting in a small circumference can be tricky but this cast on will help you sort it all out.
Knitted Flower with Karin - Room 2

Knitted flowers add a small bit of beauty to just about any project.  With a little bit of stash yarn, you can add pizzazz to a scarf, a hat, a bag - really, anything. They knit up so quickly, you might get addicted.
Increase Options with Lois - Room 3

Just as with decreases there are many options for increases. We will discuss many of the options and talk about which increases to use when.

2:20-2:50 pm classes:
Anne's Two Favorite Bind-offs with Anne - Room 1

Been perpetually too tight when binding off? Let me teach you the suspended bind off, the first step in finally successfully "binding off loosely." Feel like a plain bind off is plainly boring, let me also teach you the lovely picot bind off.
Picking up Stitches with Karin -Room 2

Many patterns require some form of picked up stitches, but they may not tell you how.  I will! It is easier to pick up a stitch to take your knitting a new direction than to have to sew a new section of knitting on. Learn how with this class.
Short Rows with Lois - Room 3

Have you passed on patterns that mention wrap and turn ('w & t'), also known as short rows? This easy technique is used in many patterns to provide shaping. In this class we will explore the in's and out's of short rows.

3:20-3:50 pm classes:
Reading Knitting Patterns and Charts with Kaity - Room 1

When you first learn to knit, looking at a knitting pattern can seem like it's written in a completely different language! In this class we'll break it down and learn how to read patterns and knitting charts.
Weaving in Ends with Karin - Room 2

My Mom (a wonderful crafter) taught me that the back of your work should be as tidy as your front.  I will show you how to weave in your ends so they are almost invisible, and definitely neat.
Tunisian Simple Stitch with Elisa - Room 3

Come learn the basic stitch used in Tunisian Crochet. Simple - or Afghan - stitch makes a pretty, flexible fabric that's great for all types of hand-mades. Tunisian is faster than knitting and uses less yarn than crochet. Bet you can't stop with just one stitch!

4:00-4:30 pm classes:
Mastering Gauge Swatches with Kaity - Room 1

We'll learn how to knit an effective gauge swatch, how to measure it, with a couple of tips and tricks to help you ensure perfect sizing.
Long Tail Cast-on Explained with Karin - Room 2

My two favorite variations of the Long-Tail Cast-On are The Twisted German or Old Norwegian (depending on the nationality that claims it), and the Standard Double-Knitting Cast-On.  The first one gives me a nice, stretchy edge, and the second is great for working a two-color edge.  I'll show you how fun both can be.
Single Crochet Trim for Knitters and Weavers with Elisa - Room 3

What can you do when you hate picking up stitches but need to add a finished edge, decorative trim, or cover up a less than perfect border on a knit or woven item? A simple crochet trim is a quick and easy finish for necklines, sleeves, sweater edges and more.
